From Footage to Festival Fever: Goodsides' Dynamic Approach

Festivals pulse with energy, a vibrant blend of music, crowds, and the unique spirit of a community. For the City of Murrieta, documenting the recent SoCal jazz and blues festival wasn't just about showcasing the event – it was an opportunity to capture the city's essence.

That's where Goodsides stepped in, transforming raw footage into a dynamic visual narrative.

Beyond the Brief: Strategic Planning and Execution

While fulfilling Murrieta's request for compelling b-roll for their 2024 State of the City video was a priority, Goodsides approached the project with a broader vision. A half day of pre-planning and location scouting laid the foundation, ensuring a smooth filming experience and strategic shot selection.

We understood the importance of showcasing the bustling crowds. Our team deliberately captured contrasting shots before and after the crowds arrived, maximizing the event's visual impact.

Technical Expertise Meets Cinematic Vision

Our approach was multifaceted. A cutting-edge 8K Sony camera delivered stunning, evergreen footage, while smaller, dynamic cameras captured a whirlwind of movement.

Wide shots, timelapses, hyperlapses, and slow motion added texture, while close-ups of musicians in their element brought the music to life. Goodsides pushed boundaries, utilizing platforms for elevated shots and weaving through the crowds for intimate angles – a level of dynamism unseen in typical festival coverage.

The Power of Social Media Amplification

Understanding the power of social media, we created shareable sizzles tailored to the City of Murrieta and its departments. These engaging assets broadened the event's reach, driving views and engagement across platforms.

A highlight of the project was our epic hyperlapse, seamlessly transitioning from the main gate to the heart of the action on stage. Our longest and most ambitious hyperlapse to date, this shot encapsulates the event's scale and energy.

A New Standard for Festival Videography

The success of this project lies in Goodsides' dedication to go above and beyond. By combining meticulous planning, technical prowess, and a keen eye for storytelling, we will be delivering more than just b-roll.

This dynamic approach, bursting with motion and emotion, will hopefully shape how festivals are documented for years to come.
